Black and White Elephant Art for Walls That Deserve More

There is something about elephants in black and white. Strip away the colour and what remains is pure — the weight of a great bull, the tenderness of a mother, the quiet authority of a matriarch leading her herd through dust. These are the images I return to again and again, because no other animal carries so much in a single frame.

This is my elephant collection.

Each print began as a moment in the field — Amboseli, Etosha, the Mara, Namibia — and ended as something I felt was worth living on a wall for a lifetime.

Craig | The Super Tusker

One of Amboseli's last great tuskers — a fine art print and a final record

Craig

Craig was one of the last true super tuskers on earth. He died on January 3, 2026, in Amboseli, at the age of 54 — his final molars worn to nothing, his long life complete. The Amboseli Trust for Elephants confirmed what those who knew him had feared was coming.

I photographed Craig over many years. He moved through that landscape like something ancient and unhurried, his tusks so long they grazed the ground as he walked. To spend time with him was to understand why elephants command reverence.

"This fine art print is now something more than a portrait. It is a record of an elephant that will not come again."

A legend of Amboseli, captured before time took him

Bring a true super tusker into your space, rare, powerful, unforgettable

Bonds Of Love

Embrace the Bonds of Love – Elephant Families Captured in Stunning Detail

Bonds Of Love

This is the fine art print people come back to. A herd closes around a newborn as a curious bull approaches, and in that closing circle, you see everything elephants are. Protective. Unified. Deeply feeling.

"Bonds of Love" has hung in living rooms, boardrooms, and nurseries. It works in all of them, because what it captures is not specific to elephants. It is universal.

A fleeting moment of protection, trust, and instinct

A powerful reminder of family, perfect for spaces that matter most

Ubuntu – Elephant Family | Wall Art

Where Strength, Trust, and Family Unite

Ubuntu

Community, protection, family — African elephant art in black and white

Ubuntu — the African philosophy of shared humanity, of community over self. I had that word in my mind when I made this image: a group of elephants encircling their young, their bodies a wall against the world outside.

It is one of my best-selling prints, and I understand why. There is comfort in it.

Strength in unity, a circle that protects what matters

Ground your space with presence, balance, and quiet connection

Elephant Ridge herd Namibia black and white large format print Peter Delaney

Elephant Ridge

"For those who chase fleeting moments of wild harmony."

Elephant Ridge

A Week's Quest, A Fleeting Moment

"Elephant Ridge" captures a majestic herd of over thirty elephants moving along a spine of land in Etosha, Namibia—a scene that lasted for just a few seconds. This stunning black-and-white print is the result of a week-long quest in one of my most cherished photographic destinations.

The ethereal dust and sand create a mesmerising atmosphere, making this print a true conversation starter.

A rare alignment of wild movement and perfect light

A statement piece that brings scale, rhythm, and Africa into your home

The Matriarch African elephant black and white portrait print Peter Delaney

The Matriarch

A life's wisdom in a single frame — black and white elephant portrait

Grace & Power

This portrait captures a moment of profound connection with a legendary matriarch. We were eye to eye, her immense tusks and gracefully extended ears creating a perfect, powerful portrait in a single, held breath.

This piece immortalises the quiet confidence and leadership of a true ruler of the wild.

This is a print about wisdom. It tends to find the right walls.

Wisdom, leadership, and a life written in time

Add depth and quiet authority to your walls

Old Tusker Amboseli elephant black and white fine art print Peter Delaney

Old Tusker

Solitary. Ancient. Amboseli's last afternoon — black and white fine art print

Old Tusker

“For those who honour the silent power of the wild.”

His skin was a map of deep creases and ancient battles. He moved slowly, purposefully, behind the herds. Capturing him was about preserving a portrait of resilience. He is a monument to the relentless passage of time.

A life of survival etched into every line

For spaces that value strength, resilience, and story

Tender Moments

Quiet affection between two elephants — intimate black and white photography

Tender Moments

Immerse yourself in the intimate world of elephants with our latest black and white fine art print, "Tender Moments." This stunning close-up side view captures a young female elephant, the young mother, resting her head lovingly against the flank of her matriarch mother.

Every crease and fold in her skin is meticulously detailed, highlighting the intricate textures that define her majestic presence. Her long eyelashes and serene expression convey a deep sense of love and tranquillity, making this portrait almost abstract in its depiction of texture, lines, and the interplay of light and shadow.

This beautiful portrait goes beyond a simple image, offering a glimpse into the tender bonds and profound emotions that elephants share. Perfect for adding a touch of elegance and emotional depth to any space,

"Tender Moments" is a timeless piece that celebrates the beauty and complexity of these magnificent creatures.

Last Days

A young bull leads his siblings across the spekboom-covered hills, unaware that tomorrow he’ll leave the herd. The tuskless mother walks with quiet melancholy, while the matriarch guards the rear — a portrait of protective family bonds and the bittersweet passage to independence.

"For those who honour the bittersweet dance of growth and goodbye."

Peter Delaney

Peter Delaney spent a decade in London's financial district before walking away to follow the one thing that mattered more. Twenty years later, he is a three-time Wildlife Photographer of the Year, published in National Geographic, and recognised as one of the foremost black and white wildlife photographers working today.

He shoots on medium format in the field — in the Masai Mara, Amboseli, Etosha, Ol Pejeta — and prints on museum-grade archival paper at the largest scale his subjects demand. Every image is made to live on a wall for a lifetime.

He lives in George, South Africa, with his family — and still can't quite believe this is the job.
