As he raises his trunk to spray red Kalahari dust, the moment becomes a striking display of power and grace. Elephant Velvia Sunset | Etosha Pan, Namibia
“Experience Africa’s beauty and soul in every frame.”

At the edge of Africa’s largest salt pan, under a sky glowing with hues of fire and dusk, a lone bull elephant stood in silent majesty. Captured in Etosha National Park, Namibia, this moment unfolded as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a palette of deep purples and fiery oranges through a haze of dust and wind—a scene that felt almost surreal, like a living memory of Velvia film.

Though I’m known for my black-and-white work, this was one of those rare moments where colour told the story best. The vibrancy, atmosphere, and sheer emotional depth of this encounter demanded to be shared in full spectrum. Elephant Velvia Sunset is not just a photograph—it’s a visual poem to Africa’s wild, eternal beauty.

Tender Moments
An Intimate Portrait of Trust and Connection

In the heart of Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Kenya, I captured a serene and powerful moment between a young female elephant and her matriarch mother. The young elephant, leaning gently against her mother's flank, radiates a quiet peace — every detail, from the delicate leaf resting on her head to the intricate texture of her skin, reflects the beauty of their unbreakable bond. This intimate portrait speaks to the strength and fragility of family ties in the wild, offering a profound moment of trust and connection.

Elephant Ridge
A Majestic Alignment on Etosha’s Ridge

On the final day of my self-drive safari in Etosha, Namibia, a herd of over thirty elephants appeared perfectly aligned along a dusty plateau ridge. In that fleeting, dust-lit moment, I pressed the shutter—immortalising a scene of wild harmony that vanished as quickly as it came.

Old Tusker | Amboseli
An Enduring Giant of Amboseli

This captivating black-and-white print features a massive old tusker elephant in Amboseli during his final afternoon. One of his tusks is broken, while the other remains impressively long, a testament to his age and battles. His skin, covered in mud and foliage from the marshes, reveals deep creases and folds that highlight his immense size and strength. Despite his age, his powerful trunk still hangs heavy as he slowly ambles behind the herds, heading toward the forests at the base of Kilimanjaro. The vast plains of Amboseli and the cloud-filled sky enhance the grandeur of his solitary journey. Available as a fine art print, canvas, acrylic, and loose print, this piece beautifully captures the serene majesty of African wildlife.

The Matriarch
Grace & Power

The Matriarch had the longest tusks I had ever seen on a female elephant. The Matriarch turned towards me, we were eye to eye, as she reached for another bunch of grass. The Matriarch extended her ears; at that moment, all the elements needed to create a compelling portrait came together. The Matriarch was front on, eye to eye, ears out, trunk slightly curled at the tip. I held my breath and pressed the shutter. I breathed a sigh of both relief and joy.

Craig
Legendary Super Tusker

Introducing Craig, the legendary Super Tusker, captured against the majestic backdrop of the snow-capped peaks of Kilimanjaro. Seven Bulls – Etosha’s Grey Ghost Procession | Panoramic Elephant Wall Art
"A March Across Dust and Time"

In Seven Bulls – Etosha’s Grey Ghost Procession, a rare alliance of seven bull elephants emerges from the shimmering heat of Namibia’s Etosha Pan. The lead bull raises his trunk to scent the air, while the others follow in silent single file—fading into the bleached horizon.

Captured in timeless black-and-white, this large-scale panoramic print (scalable up to nine feet) distills the stark beauty and ancient rhythm of survival across a drought-stricken land.

Minimalist yet powerful, this piece transforms expansive spaces, offering a raw, moving connection to the enduring spirit of Africa’s wild giants.

Super Tusker | Craig | Bull Elephant Wall Art
"An Echo of Africa’s Ancient Giants"

In Super Tusker | Craig, the spirit of Africa’s ancient giants endures. Born in 1972, Craig stands as one of the last true Super Tuskers—his ivory sweeping the earth, each tusk over 50 kilograms of living history. Against the timeless backdrop of Amboseli’s open plains, he moves with a quiet authority, a testament to survival, strength, and the fragile victories of conservation.

Last Days
A Young Bull’s Final Day with His Family in Addo

Across Addo’s spekboom-covered hills, a young bull—short tusks held high—leads his siblings, unaware that tomorrow he’ll leave the herd. Their tuskless mother walks with quiet melancholy, and at the rear, the watchful matriarch stands guard, embodying the protective bonds that define elephant families. Set beneath a softly clouded sky, this poignant scene captures the bittersweet moment of transition from youth to independence.

Grey Ghost Young Elephant Bull

"Resilience Etched in Dust"

In the shimmering mirages of Etosha’s pans, a young bull elephant stands as nature’s perfect paradox—his tusks still short, but his presence already echoing the giants before him. This black-and-white fine art print freezes that pivotal moment between youth and mastery, where dust and determination cling equally to his frame.

Etosha’s crucible forges elephants unlike any other: their tusks stay compact, their hides grow thick, and their survival instincts sharpen to a razor’s edge. Here, the next generation of "grey ghosts" learns to wear the desert’s austerity like a crown.

Grey Ghost | Hole in Ear
Scarred Monarch

This haunting black-and-white fine art print captures an Etosha bull in his prime—each weathered wrinkle and that iconic torn ear telling an epic tale of survival. His dust-caked form moves with the slow certainty of a king who has defended his reign for decades, the hole in his ear a badge of hard-won dominance. This isn't just an elephant; it's a living chronicle of the desert's harsh poetry.

The "grey ghosts" of Etosha wear their history on their bodies. That distinctive torn ear? A battlefield relic from clashes over water rights or mating grounds. The shorter tusks? The pan's mineral-heavy earth, stealing ivory strength but adding to their ghostly mystique. Even the dust that clings to them becomes part of their armor - nature's own monochrome palette.

Grey Ghost of Etosha | Monumental Bull Elephant
"A Titan’s Ritual"

In the golden hush of an Etosha evening, seven bull elephants moved like shadows to the pan’s edge—their ancient pilgrimage to waters hidden beneath cracked earth. Among them, one patriarch stood apart: tusks fractured by time, skin carved with crevices deeper than the dry riverbeds, his very silence louder than thunder.

This black-and-white fine art print immortalizes the "Grey Ghost" in his sacred rite—coating his battle-worn frame in the pan’s chalky mud, transforming into a living monument of dust and endurance. Etosha’s elephants wear their age not as weakness, but as armor; their broken tusks and dust-plastered hides become testaments to survival in Africa’s crucible.Available as:

March Of The Grey Ghosts | Bull Elephants Wall Art
A Silent Elephant Procession

For days, I tracked these seven phantom bulls through Etosha’s dust—their cracked tusks and towering silhouettes vanishing like mirages. Then, at the pan’s edge, patience became poetry: they emerged in single file, their leader’s ears flaring wide as if to claim the horizon itself. This black-and-white fine art print freezes that sacred moment when the desert’s kings marched straight into legend.

Etosha’s "grey ghosts" defy Africa’s elephant norms. Their tusks run short from mineral-starved soil, their hides thicken against the desert’s lash, and their dust-coated processions transform them into living monoliths. Here, survival writes its own epic—one your walls can now hold.
