Masai Mara. She moves in profile across the plain, trunk reaching forward as she grazes without breaking stride. Behind her, near the acacia, her daughter and granddaughter stand and watch. They know not to rush her. Two acacias frame the scene, one at centre, one set back to the left, and she passes between them as though the Mara arranged itself around her. Clouds build above. The grass is dry, end of season. Everything is exactly as it should be.*
