The trilogy is a study of age, presence and the passage of time, captured in three very different forms across Namibia.

Late one afternoon in Etosha, I followed a procession of bull elephants towards the edge of the pan.
Then one old bull separated from the others.
He moved slowly towards me, completely unhurried. His tusks were worn, one broken, and deep creases and scars marked a life shaped by the harshness of the landscape.
Behind him, another elephant stood almost lost in the pale distance.
For all his solitude, the old bull was not truly alone.
Etosha's elephants are often called its Grey Ghosts, their hides coated in the white dust of the pan. But watching this ancient bull cross the white earth, the name felt like something more.
He was a ghost only in appearance.
Still here. Still walking. Still carrying the story of the land with him.

Late one afternoon in Etosha, I was watching a group of old bull elephants crossing the vast pan when something moved among the reeds.
A black rhino.
He stood alone, covered in the dry mud of Etosha, the warm light catching the scars and folds of his ancient skin.
There was no drama. No charge. No confrontation.
Just presence.
I had gone looking for elephants, yet somehow this solitary giant was the encounter that stayed with me.
I called him Keitloa.
An old soul standing quietly beneath the African sky.
Some photographs are found by searching. Others simply appear, and ask you to stop.

At first light, a windstorm lifted fine dust across Deadvlei, revealing a solitary dead camelthorn tree rising from the ancient clay pan. Its weathered limbs stood like a sculptural relic against the drifting sand and patterned shadows of the dunes.
In this landscape, where time seems to have stopped, the tree became something more than a dead form. It felt like a symbol of endurance, standing alone against the forces that had shaped the world around it.
For a brief moment, Deadvlei seemed to hold its breath.
