Into the Wild — Last Days | The Story

He walked at the front of the family, full of confidence, unaware that this chapter of his life was drawing to a close.
His young tusks had only just begun to emerge. Behind him came his brothers and sisters, while their tuskless mother followed with quiet assurance. Bringing up the rear was the matriarch, watching over the family as she had done for decades.
Nothing about the moment suggested change.
Yet these were his last days as part of the herd.
Soon, instinct would take over. The family that had protected him since birth would gently push him away, and he would begin a different journey, learning to live alongside other young bulls before one day walking alone.
Watching them, I was reminded that every family, whether elephant or human, eventually reaches this moment.
Love is not measured by how tightly we hold on.
Sometimes, it is measured by having the courage to let go.
I called this photograph Last Days.
A quiet reminder that every ending is also the beginning of something new.
