For the San people of Southern Africa, the giraffe has always existed in two worlds — the earthly and the celestial. In their night sky, the Southern Cross traces the outline of a giraffe moving across the heavens.
I didn't know that when I took this photograph on the Etosha pan. But standing there, held in that stare, I felt it.

After some delay, I finally had 'Bonds of Love' framed and placed on my bedroom wall, a gift from my husband for our 50th wedding anniversary.
