Into the Wild — Bonds of Love | The Story
Some moments in the wild stay with you forever.
This was captured during an unforgettable encounter with an elephant herd, a moment that revealed just how deeply connected these remarkable animals truly are.
At first, the scene was difficult to watch. A newborn calf had become distressed after a bull elephant attempted to separate it from its mother. The baby's cries echoed across the bush, and in an instant, the herd responded. Trumpeting loudly, ears spread wide, they surrounded the calf in a circle of protection, trunks reaching in as if to comfort and reassure. It was a breathtaking display of love, unity, and fierce devotion.
My wife and our baby were with me that day, and the emotion of witnessing such vulnerability in the wild stayed with us. Just as we were about to leave, I caught one last glimpse in the rearview mirror — the herd gathered tightly around the newborn in a moment of extraordinary tenderness. I turned the car around and captured a single frame.
That became this photograph, a reminder that the strongest bonds are often built in moments of fear, protection, and unwavering care.
Sometimes, the wild reminds us that love speaks a universal language.

After some delay, I finally had 'Bonds of Love' framed and placed on my bedroom wall, a gift from my husband for our 50th wedding anniversary. This is not a photograph hanging on a wall. It is a window into something vast and unhurried.
