Cheetah mother and cub sit under the shade of thorn tree. They are observing springbok in the distance. To me it look like an impossible task. So much open ground to cover. My eyes could not believe the speed and the amount of ground covered in such a sprint. The Cheetah caught its prey. The cub joined it soon after for a feast.

Night Stalker | Leopard | African Wildlife | Fine Art Prints

Night Stalker | Leopard | African Wildlife | Fine Art Prints

It is not often that we get the opportunity to observe a territorial male leopard at close quarters at night. Normally I do not enjoy night time photography as I dislike the effect of flash on my images. I am also aware of the debate regarding the use of flash on animals. So most of the time my camera remains on my lap and I just sit and listen to sounds of the bush in the dark.

On this particular evening, we came across a territorial male with a female who was vying for his attention. As he seemed very relaxed with us, our guide suggested the use of a diffused spotlight shone to the side of the leopard for a few seconds. I really like the effect of the light and shadows it created - a menacing look that chilled to the bone.

Elusive Leopard | African Wildlife | Fine Art Prints

Early one morning while photographing a troop of baboons on a cliff rock face . The alpha male started to bark an alarm. I knew immediately a leopard was close by. I decided to try and find and photograph this elusive predator. As the habitat was koppies and thick bush. I headed offmore in hope than certainty. After a short time I got a glimpse of the leopard. I decided to preempt it and took up a position about 1km away .After about 10 minsthis magnificent leopard walked into view. The light was perfect so was the winter colours of the bush . I resisted the urge of a close up as I wanted to show the secretive side of the leopard as it moved through its habitat . The eye contact before it melted in to its environs really added to this special sighting.
